HARAJUKU Housewife (click for full gallery) is based around my personal & somewhat stressful experience living abroad as an ungrounded Asian woman. Economic recession, morbid beauty standard, and woman's inherent obsession towards materials, all these unmodifiable characteristics are not healable by feminism. This set of stills are part of my installation HARAJUKU Housewife, I will perform a Japanese punk song called Kabuki-Cho no Joo--it is about a young girl who wants to rule her world by being the queen of Kabuki district--Tokyo's famous red light area.
